The Indianapolis community is grieving the heartbreaking loss of 28-year-old Sheldon LaQuan Roberts, whose life came to a tragic end following a shooting at the Budget 8 Inn on East 21st Street. His sudden death has left family, friends and loved ones facing a painful loss that words cannot fully express.
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers were called shortly before 7:45 p.m. Monday to the motel, located at 6850 E. 21st St., following a report involving an incomplete 911 call. When officers arrived, they discovered Sheldon suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite the efforts that followed, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to investigators, an altercation involving two or more people occurred on a balcony at the rear of the motel before the shooting. Two individuals were detained as detectives worked to determine what had happened, but authorities later said both were released.
The investigation remains ongoing, and questions surrounding the circumstances that led to Sheldon’s death remain unanswered.
