A heartbreaking tragedy unfolded in Onslow County, North Carolina, on August 10, when Laura Hastings lost her life after the vehicle she was driving left Haw Branch Road and came to rest in a nearby pond. What began as an ordinary night ended with a devastating loss, leaving those who knew Hastings mourning a life that was suddenly taken away.

According to the North Carolina Highway Patrol, troopers were called to the crash shortly before 9 p.m. Hastings was traveling north on Haw Branch Road when her vehicle crossed the center line, left the roadway, struck a ditch and ultimately landed in the pond.
