Apopka community is heartbroken by the loss of Michael Joshua Chak, who lost his life in a traffic incident

With profound sadness and heavy hearts, family, friends, and the Apopka community are mourning the tragic passing of Michael Joshua Chak, whose life was cut short following a fatal shooting in Apopka, Florida. His untimely death has left an immeasurable void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him, bringing overwhelming grief to everyone whose lives were touched by his kindness, friendship, and presence.

According to the Apopka Police Department’s final investigative update, officers responded to a reported shooting on July 28, 2026, at 1670 W. Orange Blossom Trail, the location of a Home Depot store. Michael sustained a gunshot wound during the incident and was rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency medical treatment. Despite the efforts of healthcare professionals, he sadly succumbed to his injuries.

Following an extensive investigation, detectives determined that the incident was an isolated event stemming from a road rage encounter that began along West Orange Blossom Trail. Investigators reported that both parties eventually entered the Home Depot parking lot, where the confrontation escalated, resulting in the fatal shooting. Authorities identified the other individual involved as Kameron Deandre Berry. Although the investigation has concluded, no official findings can lessen the pain of a family forced to say goodbye far sooner than anyone could have imagined.

Michael’s passing is a heartbreaking reminder of how quickly ordinary moments can turn into life-changing tragedies. While the circumstances surrounding his death have deeply impacted the community, those closest to him choose to focus on the life he lived rather than the tragedy that ended it. They remember a man whose presence brought comfort, whose relationships mattered deeply, and whose memory will continue to live on through the countless lives he touched.
