Baltimore is mourning the heartbreaking loss of 17-year-old Jada Sellers, a young life taken far too soon by senseless gun violence. Jada’s death on July 31 left her family, friends, and community struggling to understand how someone so young could be gone in an instant. The tragedy took another devastating turn when 18-year-old Christian Hursey, who was wanted in connection with Jada’s killing, was later found dead during a police search at a home in Woodlawn. The Baltimore Police Department said Hursey died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound after officers executing a search warrant heard a single gunshot coming from the basement.

Police said officers immediately responded and found Hursey suffering from the wound before he was pronounced dead at the scene. The circumstances brought a tragic conclusion to a case that had already left one Baltimore family grieving the loss of a teenage daughter. Baltimore Police Commissioner Richard Worley described the situation as a tragic ending to an already tragic case, emphasizing that two young people had lost their lives.
