The early hours of Saturday, August 15, 2026, brought heartbreaking news to Columbus after Maxine Ohakim lost her life in a crash on the city’s east side. According to police, Maxine was driving a Honda CR-V at approximately 3:03 a.m. when she entered the I-270 northbound on-ramp from East Main Street.

Authorities said the vehicle left the roadway and struck a light pole. Maxine was the sole occupant of the vehicle and was transported to Mount Carmel East in critical condition. Despite efforts to save her, she was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
