
ANDERSON, INDIANA — With heavy hearts, family, friends, and community members are mourning the loss of Tomerious T. Smoots, 31, who died after a shooting early Sunday morning in Anderson.
According to the Anderson Police Department, officers in the 1600 block of Madison Avenue heard multiple gunshots at approximately 1:54 a.m. Soon afterward, police received reports that people had been shot nearby.
Officers searched the area and located Tomerious suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
The Madison County Coroner’s Office identified Tomerious as the victim. Autopsy and toxicology results are pending as authorities continue their investigation.
