According to Massachusetts State Police, the crash occurred at approximately 3:20 p.m. on Monday on I-195 westbound near mile marker 16 in Westport. Emergency responders arrived after receiving reports of a serious collision involving three vehicles. Troopers discovered a blue Audi with significant front-end damage in the right travel lane and a white Chevrolet Silverado with catastrophic damage in the nearby tree line. Authorities identified Mario Carreiro as the driver of the Silverado. He was found outside his vehicle and transported to a nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to the injuries he sustained in the crash.
