The Fruitland Park community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Jaylene Vargas Gonzalez, an Amazon delivery driver whose life came to a tragic end after she was found unresponsive inside an Amazon delivery vehicle. Her sudden passing has left family, friends, coworkers, and others who knew her facing a painful loss while authorities continue working to understand what happened.

According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded at approximately 7:22 p.m. on August 10 to the area of Clark Road after receiving a report that an Amazon delivery vehicle had remained stationary for an extended period. What initially appeared to be a concerning situation quickly became a devastating tragedy when deputies arrived and found Jaylene unresponsive inside the vehicle.

Lake County Fire Rescue and EMS personnel also responded to the scene and worked to provide emergency assistance. Jaylene was transported to a local hospital in an effort to save her life. Despite those efforts, she was pronounced dead at the hospital.
