According to authorities, officers with the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department responded around 10 p.m. to the 1100 block of Hasbrook Avenue following a report of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found a 42-year-old woman suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the head. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim was later identified as Stephanie Butler, who was born July 7, 1984, and was a resident of Kansas City, Kansas. Police confirmed that the incident was domestic-related, while a male was taken into custody at the scene. Authorities have not released further details about the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
