The Lafayette County community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of 19-year-old Chloe Johnson of Abbeville, Mississippi, following a devastating single-vehicle accident on County Road 103. A young life filled with promise was suddenly taken, leaving family, friends, and loved ones facing an unimaginable loss. The crash also left Chloe’s passenger, Zoe Johnson, critically injured and hospitalized, adding another layer of sorrow to an already painful tragedy.

On August 14, 2026, at approximately 4:07 p.m., the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting a single-vehicle accident near the intersection of County Road 103 and County Road 104. Deputies quickly responded and discovered a vehicle involved in a collision on the east side of County Road 103.

Inside the vehicle were Chloe Johnson and Zoe Johnson, both 19. Deputies immediately worked to remove the two occupants as the vehicle began catching fire. Their efforts helped get both women out of the dangerous vehicle before emergency personnel arrived to continue providing assistance.

The Lafayette County Fire Department and Baptist EMS responded to the scene and began rendering emergency medical aid. Despite the efforts of first responders, Chloe was pronounced deceased at the scene by Lafayette County Coroner Glenn Coleman.

Zoe was transported by Hospital Wing to Region One Medical Center in Memphis, Tennessee. She remains in critical but stable condition as she continues to receive medical care.

The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation. Authorities have stated that the accident appears to have involved only one vehicle, and no foul play is suspected at this time.
