The sudden loss of Jimmy Broyles, 76, has left family, friends, and loved ones facing a heartbreaking reality after a devastating three-vehicle crash on Interstate 40 in Amarillo, Texas. Jimmy, a resident of Logan, New Mexico, was killed Thursday afternoon in a collision that has brought profound sadness to those who knew and loved him.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash happened at approximately 4 p.m. on August 13 near Arnot Road. Authorities said Jimmy was driving a 1999 Ford F-250 pickup westbound on Interstate 40 when a 2022 Mack truck-tractor, driven by 48-year-old Jimmy Diaz of Amarillo, crossed the center median, went through the cable barrier, and entered the eastbound lanes.

The Mack truck collided with Jimmy Broyles’ Ford F-250, sending the pickup into an eastbound 2020 Chevrolet Malibu driven by 24-year-old Elynn Karina Rangel-Gonzalez of Harlingen. The force of the collision caused Jimmy’s Ford F-250 to roll before coming to rest in the center median.

Jimmy was pronounced dead at the scene, leaving behind a family and circle of friends who must now cope with an unimaginable loss. Rangel-Gonzalez suffered minor injuries and was transported to BSA Hospital in Amarillo. Diaz was also involved in the crash.

Authorities reported that all three drivers were wearing seat belts. Road conditions were dry, while weather conditions were clear at the time of the collision.
