Saturday afternoon brought devastating news when Bruce Kennedy, a 20-year-old man from North Berwick, died following an ATV crash near Wadleigh Pond in the Nahmakanta Maine Public Reserved Land in T1 R11, Maine.

According to the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife, Kennedy was operating an ATV at approximately 2 p.m. while riding in the remote area with a friend who was traveling separately on another ATV. Authorities said Kennedy approached a curve in the road but failed to negotiate the turn, causing him to lose control of the vehicle and crash.

The injuries Kennedy sustained were fatal, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. An initial investigation indicated that speed may have been a factor in the crash. Authorities also reported that Kennedy was not wearing a helmet at the time of the incident.
