The Porter County community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Martin Meschede, whose life was tragically cut short in a devastating motorcycle crash on the Indiana Toll Road. At just 25 years old, Martin’s sudden passing has left family, friends, and everyone who knew him struggling to come to terms with an unimaginable loss. According to the Indiana State Police, the fatal crash occurred at approximately 4:28 a.m. as Martin was riding his 2024 Yamaha motorcycle eastbound on the Indiana Toll Road. Investigators said that near the 25-mile marker, between the Chesterton and Portage exits, the motorcycle left the roadway to the right before striking a guardrail. The force of the collision ejected Martin from the motorcycle, causing him to come to rest approximately 144 feet from the point of impact. Authorities reported that the motorcycle remained upright after the collision and continued traveling nearly 1,000 feet before finally coming to rest on the inside shoulder of the eastbound lanes.

Emergency responders rushed to the scene in hopes of saving his life, but despite their efforts, Martin was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash temporarily shut down the eastbound lanes of the Indiana Toll Road while investigators documented evidence and emergency crews cleared the roadway.
