Randolph County  is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Lynn Town Marshal Brad Fisher, whose passing after being struck by a fleeing suspect driving a stolen vehicle has left a deep sadness throughout the community. Fisher, a veteran law enforcement officer with more than 25 years of dedicated service, lost his life while attempting to protect the public during an active police pursuit on Wednesday morning, July 29.

According to the Indiana State Police, the tragic incident began around 8:30 a.m. when a Randolph County sheriff’s deputy located a stolen vehicle being driven by a 34-year-old woman from Winchester who was wanted on multiple outstanding warrants. Authorities said the driver initially pulled over near the intersection of County Roads 400 West and 50 South, but suddenly fled the scene, leading deputies on a pursuit through Randolph County.

As the chase continued, Marshal Brad Fisher positioned himself near the intersection of U.S. 36 and U.S. 27 to deploy a tire-deflation device in an effort to safely stop the fleeing vehicle. Investigators said the suspect crashed into Fisher before losing control of the stolen vehicle and colliding with a dump truck. Emergency crews rushed the marshal to a nearby hospital, but despite every effort to save him, he later died from the injuries he sustained while serving his community.

Indiana State Police Sgt. Scott Keegan described the loss as devastating, extending heartfelt condolences to the Town of Lynn and all of Randolph County. The suspect was transported to Ascension St. Vincent Randolph Hospital for treatment before being taken into custody. Officials said the Randolph County Prosecutor’s Office will determine the formal charges as the investigation continues.
