
TAUNTON, MASSACHUSETTS — With heavy hearts, family, friends, and community members are mourning the loss of Zirovick Depina, 22, of Brockton, who died after gunfire erupted at a house party early Sunday morning in Taunton.
According to Taunton police, officers received multiple 911 calls at approximately 12:30 a.m. Sunday reporting shots fired and several people injured near Weir and Sumner streets.
Responding officers determined that the shooting occurred at a home on Weir Street near the intersection with Sumner Street. Inside and around the residence, police found multiple people suffering from gunshot wounds.
Authorities said eight people were injured in the shooting, with all victims believed to be in their early twenties. Several victims were transported to area hospitals, while police learned that others may have left the gathering and sought medical treatment elsewhere.
Zirovick was among those wounded. He was later pronounced deceased early Sunday morning.
One victim remains in serious but stable condition, while the other victims suffered injuries described as non-life-threatening. Taunton police and Massachusetts State Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
