The heartbreaking loss of 34-year-old Ratanza Winters-Gardner has left family, friends and loved ones struggling to understand how an ordinary night could end in such devastating tragedy. Ratanza was killed in a serious collision on Joe Frank Harris Parkway, where investigators say a Toyota 4Runner traveling southbound struck the rear of the Honda Accord she was driving. The force of the impact sent both vehicles off the west shoulder of the roadway.

Despite the emergency response that followed, Ratanza could not be saved. She died at the scene, leaving behind people who loved her and who now must face the unimaginable pain of saying goodbye far sooner than they ever expected.

The Georgia State Patrol’s Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team is assisting with the investigation as authorities work to determine the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision. Additional charges could be filed as the investigation continues.
