The Town of Enfield, near Ithaca, New York, is mourning the heartbreaking loss of 52-year-old David Kornreich and 31-year-old Andrew Harrell, whose lives were tragically cut short following a devastating plane crash on Sunday, August 30, 2026.

According to the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to North Applegate Road at around 12:30 p.m. after receiving reports that a small aircraft had crashed in the area. The aircraft, a 1977 Lake model LA-4-200, had departed from Ithaca Airport after being cleared for takeoff at approximately 11:24 a.m. Authorities said the plane last contacted the airport’s air traffic control tower around 12:02 p.m.

David Kornreich, the owner of the aircraft, was pronounced dead at the crash scene. Andrew Harrell survived the initial impact but sustained critical injuries and was rushed to Cayuga Medical Center for treatment. Sadly, despite medical efforts, he later succumbed to his injuries.
