
MIDLAND, TEXAS — With profound sorrow, the Midland community is mourning the loss of Javier “Juice” Mendoza, 39, and Richard Harrell, 27, who died following a devastating motorcycle crash late Wednesday night, September 2, 2026.
According to the Midland Police Department, officers responded at approximately 11:38 p.m. to a crash at the intersection of Midkiff Road and Park Lane. The collision involved a Ford F-250 pickup truck and a Honda CBR motorcycle.
A preliminary investigation found that the motorcycle was traveling northbound on Midkiff Road behind the Ford F-250 when it collided with the rear of the pickup truck. Mendoza was operating the motorcycle, and Harrell was riding as a passenger.
Mendoza suffered fatal injuries in the collision and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Harrell was seriously injured and taken to Midland Memorial Hospital for treatment. Despite medical efforts, he was later pronounced deceased at the hospital.
Police have stated that speed is believed to have been a factor in the crash. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to determine the full circumstances surrounding the collision.
