The Plano community is heartbroken by the death of Christiana Velasquez, 37, who passed following a fatal pedestrian crash on SH121

 

The early morning hours of August 16, 2026, brought heartbreaking news to Plano after a fatal pedestrian crash occurred on eastbound SH121 near Ohio Drive.

According to the preliminary investigation, Plano Police and Plano Fire-Rescue responded to the crash at approximately 1:06 a.m. Christiana, 37, of Plano, had reportedly crossed the westbound and eastbound traffic lanes of SH121 before attempting to cross the eastbound traffic lanes on the highway’s access road near the intersection of Ohio Drive.

She was struck by an eastbound SUV. Witnesses and emergency responders immediately attempted to provide lifesaving assistance. Plano Fire-Rescue personnel also performed lifesaving measures at the scene, but tragically, Christiana was pronounced deceased.

The SUV driver was not injured and remained at the scene, cooperating with investigators.

Eastbound SH121 was closed for several hours while authorities worked to document the scene and investigate the circumstances of the crash. The roadway was reopened at approximately 6:00 a.m.

For everyone else, the highway eventually returned to normal. Traffic resumed, vehicles passed through, and the morning continued. But for Christiana’s family and those who loved her, everything had changed.

A family was suddenly left facing a loss they never expected.
