The Putnam County community is heartbroken by the death of Cecil Pomeroy, Jr., whose passing after a violent confrontation has left his family, friends, and loved ones devastated. What began as a reported verbal disagreement ended in a tragedy that no one expected, taking Cecil’s life far too soon.

According to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, road deputies were dispatched to a business at approximately 12:46 a.m. following a report of a fight. When deputies arrived, they found Cecil unconscious in the parking lot.

Investigators determined through eyewitness accounts and video surveillance that Cecil had been involved in a verbal argument with Tyrone DeShawn Washington of Culloden, West Virginia. Authorities allege that the disagreement escalated into a violent confrontation and that Washington struck Cecil several times, causing life-threatening injuries.

Cecil was rushed to Thomas Hospital for emergency medical treatment. Despite efforts to save him, his injuries proved fatal, and he was pronounced dead at the hospital.
