HAMER TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A heartbreaking tragedy unfolded Sunday evening in Highland County when a four-vehicle crash claimed the life of 37-year-old Daniel Vance of Sardinia.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 8:49 p.m. on State Route 138 in Hamer Township. Troopers determined that Vance was driving a 1973 Plymouth Duster southwest on the roadway when his vehicle traveled left of the center line.

The Plymouth collided with a 2008 Chevrolet Colorado and a 2004 Dodge Dakota, both driven by 17-year-old juveniles. A fourth vehicle, a 2019 Ford Ranger traveling southwest on SR-138, became involved after striking the Dodge following the initial collision.

Vance was pronounced dead at the scene.

The sudden loss has left those who knew Daniel facing an unimaginable reality. At just 37 years old, his life was tragically cut short in a crash that unfolded within moments, leaving behind memories that his family and friends will now hold close.
