According to police, a 911 call was received at approximately 1:15 a.m. reporting that a man was dead in the parking lot. Officers arrived and discovered Dean with multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency personnel responded, but sadly, nothing could be done to save him.

At just 33 years old, Dean’s death represents a future taken away far too soon. His loved ones should have been looking forward to more birthdays, family celebrations, conversations, laughter and memories with him. Instead, they are now left trying to understand how someone they cared about could be gone so suddenly.

Friends expressed their grief and condolences on social media Wednesday morning, remembering Dean and mourning the loss of someone who clearly touched the lives of those around him. While the circumstances surrounding his death are deeply painful, those who knew him will remember him for far more than the tragedy that ended his life.

Every person leaves behind a story written through the people they loved, the friendships they formed and the moments they shared. For Dean’s family and friends, those memories may now become some of the most precious things they have left.

Seymour Police Chief John Bucherati said investigators are following several leads, conducting interviews and working to obtain search warrants as the homicide investigation continues. An autopsy was scheduled for August 27 as authorities work to gather additional information.

Detectives from the Seymour Police Department, the Connecticut State Police Major Crime Squad and inspectors from the Milford State’s Attorney’s Office were at the scene Wednesday morning. Investigators are also examining the surrounding area for surveillance footage and speaking with people who may have seen or heard something.

A maroon Nissan Sentra believed to have belonged to Dean remained at the scene as police continued processing evidence. Authorities have not disclosed whether there were witnesses to the shooting or whether nearby businesses captured relevant footage.
