Thursday afternoon, August 20, brought devastating news to Cleveland after a 15-year-old girl, Christine Bogarty, was fatally shot inside an apartment building in the 900 block of Spring Road.

According to Cleveland police, officers were called to the apartment building at approximately 1:30 p.m. following reports of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found Christine inside an apartment. Cleveland EMS also responded to the scene, but despite the emergency response, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The news of a teenager losing her life in such a sudden and violent incident has left a painful void for those who knew her. At just 15 years old, Christine’s life was tragically cut short, leaving behind a future that will now never unfold as her loved ones had hoped.

Cleveland police said two 15-year-old boys were arrested in connection with Christine’s fatal shooting. Both were transported to the juvenile detention hall following their arrests.

Cleveland police Sgt. Freddy Diaz said investigators believe Christine and the two suspects knew one another. The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain part of the ongoing investigation as authorities work to establish exactly what happened inside the apartment and what led to the deadly incident.

For Christine’s loved ones, however, the investigation cannot change the devastating reality they are now facing. A daughter, friend, and young member of the community has been taken from them far too soon.
